AI Staff Engineer

CFOTech is looking for a AI Staff Engineer with advanced English skills to join an important client specializing in software and product development.

We're looking for an AI Staff Engineer to join our AI & Data Team. This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who enjoys building AI-powered products while helping clients and teams solve complex technical challenges.

As an AI Staff Engineer, you'll work directly with clients, participate in technical discoveries, help shape AI solutions, and actively contribute to project delivery. You'll combine software engineering, AI expertise, and technical leadership to ensure projects are successful from early conversations through production deployment.

We expect AI Staff Engineers to work as developers within client projects while also providing technical guidance, solution design, and support during pre-sales activities.

What are the main responsibilities of this role?

• Technical Leadership & Delivery
• Design and build AI-powered applications using LLMs, RAG, agents, and related technologies.
• Work as a hands-on engineer within client projects, contributing code and technical leadership.
• Help clients understand technical options, tradeoffs, and opportunities.
• Participate in technical discoveries, solution design, and architecture discussions.
• Support pre-sales efforts through technical validation, estimations, and solution recommendations.
• Guide engineering teams through complex technical challenges.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Share knowledge and mentor other engineers when needed.

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building and deploying AI-powered applications.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG systems, agents, and modern AI frameworks.
• Strong Python and backend development skills.
• Experience building production-grade software and APIs.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders.
• Strong client management skills, including technical and non-technical clients.
• Strong product mindset and background about different techniques.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead technical decisions while remaining hands-on.

Nice to have

• Experience participating in technical pre-sales activities.
• Experience in consulting or software services companies.
• Experience with MLOps, observability, and AI evaluation frameworks.
• Experience designing multi-agent systems and advanced AI workflows.

Employment Details

Contract Type: Contractor engagement directly with the client.(USD payment).

Working Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Location: 100% remote from Argentina or Uruguay.
